UNC 95, NC State 71

Weird for a young team. Starts two freshmen, brings several more off the bench, goes 3-3 at home in the ACC so far, and wins 6 games out of 7 on the road. Two of those wins this season were against NC State, which is supposed to have an experienced team on the upswing. The win last night was business-like, not the result of a young team riding a wave of emotion. This UNC team is incredibly mature, considering the lack of experience, and could prove a formidable opponent for a lot of NCAA Tournament teams in March. ...

Which Sci-Fi crew?

That would be cool… You scored as Babylon 5 (Babylon 5). The universe is erupting into war and your government picks the wrong side. How much worse could things get? It doesn’t matter, because no matter what you have your friends and you’ll do the right thing. In the end that will be all that matters. Now if only the Psi Cops would leave you alone. Move and upgrade at the same time?

Well, if you are reading this, you are seeing it on a new web host ( Textdrive) and an upgraded WordPress installation (2.0.1). Of course, I end up doing both of the changes at the same time, unintentionally. Lesson learned: When dealing with two similar installations, always make sure you’re on the right one before making any crucial changes. :) No problems with my previous web host ( Lunarpages). I highly recommend them. Textdrive had a better deal for a short time last year, and I just got around to moving the database over. ...

UNC's Tyler Hansbrough scores 40

UNC freshman record…Dean E. Smith Center record…ACC freshman record…one point behind the current ACC high score. What more can be said? Last night was the first time I’d seen a team come out and try to really beat up Hansbrough. Georgia Tech deserved every foul they got…it was the college version of Hack-a-Shaq. Problem is, Hansbrough was still putting the ball into the basket, and he’s good at free throws. Pretty amazing performance. ...

The University Quiz

Wow, seven questions and they got my hometown university! You’re Wake Forest University! When people first meet you, they think of religious services that are strangely frenetic. But then you’re able to lighten up and even show them some Southern hospitality. You recently took this to the point of advocating that everyone have a computer, and you might even give them away if necessary. After all, even you’ve gone through momentous moves in the past and you know what it takes to adjust. Your sculptures have nothing to lose but their chains. Take the University Quiz at the Blue Pyramid. ...

GE/Durham: Engines of Democracy

GE/Durham makes the pages of Fast Company. GE/Durham has more than 170 employees but just one boss: the plant manager. Everyone in the place reports to her. Which means that on a day-to-day basis, the people who work here have no boss. They essentially run themselves. Link courtesy of Jeremy Zawodny’s blog

Garfield without thought balloons

This is fascinating. It’s just Jon talking to a cat that never answers. They should run Garfield like this for a year and see what happens. :)

Four Things

A Lists of Four meme that’s going around the Internets. I haven’t been tagged by anyone to do it, but it looked interesting: Four jobs I’ve had in my life: Security Guard Temp Reporter Webmaster Four movies I can watch over and over: Napoleon Dynamite Galaxy Quest Dune Wings of Desire Four TV shows I love to watch: Veronica Mars Battlestar Galactica Fullmetal Alchemist The Office (After considering it for a while, I had to remove MST3K. I watch The Office far more regularly, and actually find it really relaxing during a long week. Highly recommended, along with its partner in crime: My Name is Earl.) Four places I’ve been on vacation: ...

Puppy Bowl II

Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl II. Slightly more organized than the Super Bowl. Man, that poodle is a freak. ;) The black and brown beagle’s got some sense, though. Hang out on the outside…sniff around. Don’t forget the Bissell Kitty Half Time Show. Thrill to daring attack runs that abruptly end as the attacker figures out the other cat is looking at them. :)
