Connecticut for Lieberman

After Joe Lieberman was defeated in the Democratic primary for Senate, he presented himself to the Election Board as the candidate of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party. Since the CFL Party didn’t seem to have any actual members, John Orman decided to switch his party affiliation to the CFL Party, and has now elected himself chairman of the party. Here are some of the new rules he’s passed so far: If you run under Connecticut for Lieberman, you must actually join our party. ...

Meth use hurts the economy in many ways

Apparently euros are starting to physically crumble due to a combination of crystal meth residue and human sweat. I like William Gibson’s title better than mine: Rotting the Literal Fabric of the German Economy.

The Brave and the Bold #115

Chris’s Invincible Super-Blog reviews a story where the dead Batman teams up with another hero to fight crime. Need any more than that? How about this? :) Also, I feel I should mention that Dr. Frankenpalmer explains that while he’ll be contributing to some of the major motor functions, Batman’s mostly going to be operating purely on reflex. Which means that Batman’s involuntary reaction to the world around him is to hunt down evil and beat the crap out of it. ...

The Robot Revolution Begins...as soon as they get wheels

Samsung has a promo video out for a sentry robot armed with a machine gun. The video is disturbing, at least partially due to overly celebratory music. The only question now is do we end up hooking the robot gun platforms to mouse brains, or to Skynet?

Donald Rumsfeld is gone...

…there’s a Democratic majority in the House and Senate… Who could have predicted such a thing?!? :) Seriously, when I — who grew up Republican and liked Reagan in the Eighties — think the best news I’ve heard all week is that the Democrats won and Rumsfeld is out…well, you know you probably aren’t energizing the base to come out and vote for your party. I don’t expect too much of my government, I don’t think, but here’s what I hope happens the next two years that didn’t happen in the last six: ...

Upgraded to WordPress 2.0.5

I just upgraded to the “Ronan” release of WordPress, which is probably a good thing, since I had skipped the previous couple of upgrades. Went pretty smoothly. I haven’t heard much about bugs yet, so I’m hoping I’m hitting this one at the right time. :)

Stay out of my System Tray!

Yep, I’m looking at you, Quicktime Player and EA Link. You aren’t the only offenders, but you’re today’s offenders. Seriously, why does Quicktime end up in my system tray every time I upgrade iTunes? The checkbox to remove it is in exactly the same place with each new version, using the same language, so I think it wouldn’t be too hard to keep that setting through the upgrade. I really don’t have any occasion to need to open Quicktime faster than it already does. ...
