Reversed E equals powerlessness?

According to a recent study, when asked to draw an “E” on their foreheads, people with a sense of power draw the letter as if they were reading it, while others draw it so others can read it. Great, I just tried to draw an E where I could read it, and I ended up reversing it anyway. :| Link courtesy of Collision Detection

The Phantom Stranger vs. James Bond

Or, Why We Love the Phantom Stranger VI, from the Absorbascon. Personally, while I think “Bond…James Bond” is one of the greatest lines in movie history, I have to pull for the person who unleashes this quote while pouncing on someone: You have touched a life and left a blistering sore on the flesh of Humanity – And you must not be allowed to do so again! (A key difference between hero and villain is the ability to monologue while actually doing something.) ...

From The Notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci

The waters of the salt sea are fresh at the greatest depths. - Page 948 “So dive real deep, take a big gulp of water, and let us know what it tastes like, okay?” :)

Steam rising off a car

Just to start out, I should point out that I leave my car outside at home because we have what appears to be a 1.95-car garage. Since the sun comes up on that side of the house, I haven’t had to scrape my car in the morning after light frosts, because the ice has already melted. Now, to get sappy. :) When I went out to the car this morning, as usual the ice had melted and the water was rapidly steaming off the roof of the car. It’s always interesting to note, but I hadn’t really seen it until this morning. As I started to get into the car, I turned my head and saw sunlight filtering through wisps of steam rising off the car, diffuse threads intertwining and dancing to the increasingly chaotic motion of the molecules, only to disappear from my vision a few inches from the pool of mist and reflective water that created them. ...

Pessimism pays off

Danes tend to be happier than people in any other Western country. Why? Low expectations lead to pleasant surprises. Link courtesy of Boing Boing.

Great, something to worry about...

The True Neurotic You scored 63 anxiety, 64 awkwardness, and 72 neuroticism! Congratulations, you are The True Neurotic, you nail-biting, conflict-avoiding worrier, you. You’re plagued by self-doubt and anxiety, which makes social activity hard–even though you may be well-liked, you feel under a storm of silent criticism. It doesn’t help that people give you funny looks for organizing all your pens by color or sharpening your gnawed pencils to a delicate point. ...

Damn you, DiMera!

Actor Drake Hogestyn – John Black on Days of our Lives -- and his family were attacked by a deranged man who wanted to exorcise Satan out of John Black, apparently confused about his Satanic possession storylines. He also hadn’t watched Days recently enough to realize that John Black is a supersoldier who can grab you by the hair and punch you in the face justlikethat. :) Everyone’s fine, except the deranged man. No word as to Stefano’s involvement. ...

So many symbols...

This image is what RedState.com decided to use to commemorate the first day of a (barely) Democratic Congress. Wonkette covers it better, but just to get everything straight: Retreat from Saigon Communist Red Star Communist Hammer and Sickle Rays from Japanese military flag Democrat-Socialists, perhaps referring to Bernie Sanders? Isn’t that overkill? And who is retreating from Saigon? Republicans? Is Congress the helicopter, and all the people Democrat-Socialists? I don’t understand. ;) ...

Saul of the Mole Men

Is it bad that I’m primarily interested in this new Cartoon Network show because it has “Mole Men” in the title? Link courtesy of Boing Boing.
