Upgraded to WordPress 2.0.5

I just upgraded to the “Ronan” release of WordPress, which is probably a good thing, since I had skipped the previous couple of upgrades. Went pretty smoothly. I haven’t heard much about bugs yet, so I’m hoping I’m hitting this one at the right time. :)

A brief commercial break in life

So, I’m sitting on the couch Saturday night, reading a bit after watching the first three rounds of the NFL Draft. Two hours later, I’m in the emergency room, trying to stay upright in an uncomfortable chair. Two hours after that, I’m lying in a hospital bed blissed out on morphine. So, did something horrible happen? Not exactly, and that is the magic of the kidney stone. While they can be serious, kidney stones are often small, harmless, almost completely benign…and yet, when you have one, you want to bash yourself in the head with a steel chair so you can have other pain to distract you. :| ...

Maybe I'm losing my hair

There is a site called My Heritage that tries to match your face to celebrity faces using face-recogntion technology on a photo you upload. My number 1 face-match? Andre Agassi. Oh well, we were both born in 1970, so you figure the aging process might have worked similarly. (Except for the hair.) :) Top nine (they gave me nine): Agassi George Clooney (That’s flattering. Maybe the gray hair?) Bryan Adams (Yep, aging ’80s rocker.) Josh Jackson (Dawson’s Creek.) Carl Lewis (Huh?) Charlie Chaplin (I thought it was supposed to be face recognition, not height recognition.) Laurence Fishburne (I wish.) Gary Cooper (Ditto.) Justin Timberlake (One of these things is not like the other.) Link courtesy of Best Week Ever Blog ...

Which Sci-Fi crew?

That would be cool… You scored as Babylon 5 (Babylon 5). The universe is erupting into war and your government picks the wrong side. How much worse could things get? It doesn’t matter, because no matter what you have your friends and you’ll do the right thing. In the end that will be all that matters. Now if only the Psi Cops would leave you alone. Move and upgrade at the same time?

Well, if you are reading this, you are seeing it on a new web host ( Textdrive) and an upgraded WordPress installation (2.0.1). Of course, I end up doing both of the changes at the same time, unintentionally. Lesson learned: When dealing with two similar installations, always make sure you’re on the right one before making any crucial changes. :) No problems with my previous web host ( Lunarpages). I highly recommend them. Textdrive had a better deal for a short time last year, and I just got around to moving the database over. ...

The University Quiz

Wow, seven questions and they got my hometown university! You’re Wake Forest University! When people first meet you, they think of religious services that are strangely frenetic. But then you’re able to lighten up and even show them some Southern hospitality. You recently took this to the point of advocating that everyone have a computer, and you might even give them away if necessary. After all, even you’ve gone through momentous moves in the past and you know what it takes to adjust. Your sculptures have nothing to lose but their chains. Take the University Quiz at the Blue Pyramid. ...

Four Things

A Lists of Four meme that’s going around the Internets. I haven’t been tagged by anyone to do it, but it looked interesting: Four jobs I’ve had in my life: Security Guard Temp Reporter Webmaster Four movies I can watch over and over: Napoleon Dynamite Galaxy Quest Dune Wings of Desire Four TV shows I love to watch: Veronica Mars Battlestar Galactica Fullmetal Alchemist The Office (After considering it for a while, I had to remove MST3K. I watch The Office far more regularly, and actually find it really relaxing during a long week. Highly recommended, along with its partner in crime: My Name is Earl.) Four places I’ve been on vacation: ...

Measure Map

I’m currently trying out the alpha version of Measure Map, a new blog statistics application. So far, so good, and I like the reporting interface. Anyway, since there is code on each page, let me know if you experience any technical problems.
